My friend has recently purchased his first MK1 GTI. With it came loads of spares, including a swallowtail conversion (rear lamps and rear panel).
Any idea what its worth? He wants to keep his standard. I've tried to research it for him but can;t find any for sale.

Depending on th condition of the panel, where it has been cut, I'd say upto £400-500 for the panel. If the lights are genuine and in good condition £200. Again this is only based on very few sales of Swallowtail rear panels.

is it a swallow tail? or a s1 panel? they both have small lights. s1 panels come up once in a while, last one guy wanted £250, he still has it

I would be quite tempted to convert mine to small lights as I do like the look of them, but I want to be able to reverse any mods I do to mine, and this would be a lot of work to convert back if I wanted to return it all to original specvolkswarren said
