Is there any easy way to remove the knee-bar cover without removing the dash?
Cheers,

Remove the center console screws and lay it on the drivers side floor.
Take the 3 10mm bolts off the side s of the upper dash and push it up.
This should expose the 6 big phillips screws that keep the front knee-bar-support attached to the rear.
Remove them and then carefully wiggle the cover off the re-bar. Ig you have electric window switches remove them, and the ash tray so you can get the wiring pushed back.
The ash tray is live all the time so taking off the ground is needed.

depend which country and set up in the car. the whole bar comes out after you move the centre console and the 2 or 3 nuts left right next to the door hinge.matgent said

You can also remove the 2 fixed bolts per side on the knee bar 13mm and loosen the nuts on the other two per side and the knee bar can be lowered to get to the screws that remove the cover off the bar.
Otherwise slacken the nuts and remove the whole thing.
The upper dash if still unmolested after all these years may have the upper dash to lower dash screws still mated. and they have to be removed.

I also found that on the fuse box side that if you take out the side vent, that you can wiggle your arm in the opening and get to the bolts a tad bit easier.
How to safely remove your vents with out breakage is here:
