Hi, do any of the long term enthusiasts recall Motor magazine running a mk1 diesel as part of their long term fleet back in the day? Trying to pin a reference down to when they had a sticky gear shift, they subsequently linked it to a wheels off ground leap over a hump back bridge that they captured in a photo at the time.
Long term test after 50K miles? I think that I put 50K miles on my ride after about 10 months of ownership, (work car) with many a 1400 mile round trip weekends from Illinois to Mobile Alabama and back…
I didn't have any issues at all until @ 140K when I had to change the Clutch out. I don't need a Mag to tell me what I knew….by ownership. Loved that little 81 Diesel…. Cheapest car I ever owned, and never had to tinker with.
What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?
