Mars Red Interior Colours

Did the Mars Red MK1 GTI only come with red stripe interior or was silver an option?

I was going to retrim my originals but have seen another set already done in silver, just not sure if it will look correct?

I think it was only in red, however, if it's the seats that are advertised here:

Then I'd say go for it as they look lovely, and if at a later date you wanted to, you could get the silver swapped to red  

I've got a red GTI, but I've got some porsche seats that I'm going to get re-trimmed in red stripe, should look good when it's done

Yes UK cars came with red stripe seats but I think some Mars Red imports came with silver stripe too, just as some imports in black came with red stripe seats.

My 1981 GTI 1588CC was a 'full UK spec RHD' car I 'personally imported' from Germany (when you could save about a grand so doing) - Mars Red with silver/ grey stripe seats - I seem to recall both red and silver stripe were availalbe on UK Mars Red GTI at the time, but could be wrong on that….I am pretty sure I was carfeul to order a car which would be exactly as available in UK at the time 'residual value' wise….
