Golf MK1 fan belt help

I have a VW campervan T25 with a VW Golf MK1 engine fitted.  It is superb!   It has 2 fan belts & a 'shim?'   Unfortunately 1 of the fan belts has a lot of give in it and the red engine temp light comes on occasionally.  If I change gear it goes off.  I cannot make it come on.I have been to numerous garages who cannot fit me in to look at it, 'oh you need a new fan belt' etc  There lies the next problem.  I have been to loads of motor factors & online sites who cannot do anything without the registration plate of the engine. Which I do not know.I am going round in circles.  I have measured with a piece of string the outside of the fan belts (65cm & 5?cm). But this still does not seem to help anyone. Please please please can one of you lovely people help me please? On the log book the engine number is OSG94. If this helps anyone.I hope you can help me keep Hazel the camper van on the road.Best wishes

Belts are usually measured in mm.  so 65cm is 650 mm
If you are talking about the shim on a York a/c compressor then look to the ETKA, 84-89 Cabriolets used a york compressor and a shim to make the belt tighter.
