I'm trying to do a guide on upgrading from a MK1 to MK2 /MK3 wiper wiper motor including servicing the mechanism but I'm a bit stuck.
I was led to believe that this is a straight forward swap but have come across some show stoppers.
I have a wiper motor from classic-vw with part number 191 955114A but the connector is clashing with the front mount bracket.
I also noticed the motor spindle is 8mm so requires a different nut but simple enough to replace, never seen this mentioned anywhere.
Any advice appreciated.
Cheers

This may help you a wee bit. Personally Ihave never done this as I didn't have issues with my wiper motors over the years, but I did take them apart and clean and grease them @ 8 years of ownership. On my 81 I think I did it about 2 times in 20 years. IIRC there was only one time that I wished I had faster wipers, and that was on a Cross Country Trip and it was raining so fast and hard
it was torrential @ 40 mph blowing sideways. What the upper US coasts calls a Nor'Easter. I just pulled over under a underpass and waited it out…

I followed your excellent guide first but no saving it I'm afraid.
RIP MK1 wiper motor
.
But it was me being a prat. I managed to fit it. Not sure why I had issues earlier.
