I ordered one from Classic Additions on the recommendation of another Mk1 owner
https://www.classicadditions.com/en-GB/volkswagen-golf-gti-car-covers/vml_1052-169182
I went for the indoor super stretch c/w VW Logo but they also do outdoor ones.
Great company to deal with, if you are not in a hurry they do 10% discount offers from time to time

No problem, they have my design on file if you go for a logo, quick pic below, not had a change to stretch it over the car yet.

Looks well smart Steve, but I'm getting 2 one for the tintop & one for the cabby, so alas can't spend more on the extras!

I could do with a decent car cover for my cabby. Doesn't look like they put a logo on the outdoor covers, could you use an indoor cover outside ?

You can if you don't want it to do anything.
Indoor covers are more for just dust, they won't protect against rain, frost etc.
