So i’ve finally got my golf in my own garage!! After surfing thru family members garages for the last 6 years! So now its time to sort a few bits!
Sooo my window wipers have never fully worked properly! And recent years they have got slower and get stuck mid wipe!
So do i need a new motor? Linkage? Relay? Stalk? Or is it just a case of trying them all?
Also rocker cover gasket?? Which is best? Can you get them with the new bolts? And is it as easy as just taking the rocker cover off? Cleaning up putting new one on and done???
87 gti!
Thank you

Wipers get slower because of a couple of things.
Linkages that are Dirty and the Grease needs to be renewed. Dirty connections to the motor and or bad grounds.

Valve covers can use the g60 rubber gasket, but you have to remove the Shouldered Studs and replace with non-shouldered ones. Or go Back with the Original
Cork Type.
You will use but 2 drops of Sealant (Permatex) Red or Black ultra only where the cam over seal meets the Cork.
You will tighten the nuts on the rebar or cover to 87 in/lbs only. Too tight and the Gasket Puckers and drips oil. Too loose and it with leak oil.
Both work well and the key is Cleanliness and not over tightening the nuts. No other gasket sealant is allowed on the gasket but where I mentioned.
The Victor Reinz Rubber gasket is the best as it has metal core sandwiched between the Rubber.
