My 1989 GTI cabriolet in black has the pirelli Pslot wheels. I hate them!! The car just doesn't look right. I know everyones opinion is different but what wheels should I be putting on it?? I do like the black BBS type wheel. I'd be grateful for some opinions please.

I don't like the Pirelli p,s either, you like the black bbs so that's what you should fit surely.

Which wheels?
You may get someone want to swap you I traded mine for a set of bbs. I shall get them refurbed some day as my back up set.
I often see p slots go for 200 in need of refurb on eBay so may be worth getting it on axle stands to help fund the replacement

Am i the only car to have 14" tyres??? I see some 15"bbs from a MK2 gti for sale... what will fit without effecting the speedo please??

No, lots have 14 inch, some have 13 inch, 15 inch is a popular modification, it wont upset the speedo as you use a lower profile tyre, ie 195/50 x 15 instead of 185/60 x 14.

I would fit 15" BBS RA as there are only 6inches wide you will be fine with 195/50 or even 185/55 tyres. If you opt for black centres will be like the black Sportline version. The BBS were a dealer option, so your still keeping it original'ish' and P Wheels were never fitted as Standard to the cabby anyway.

Most cars don't look there best with old tatty wheels , why don't you give them a DIY refurb , you maybe surprised ! The other wheels I like on a mk1 are bbs g60 alloys 15" . All best with your choices .

Check the ebay prices for p-slots that are cleaned and polished…. You can probably afford any wheel you want.
I have seen them go from 50 bucks to 200/wheel….

Are they 8's bud?

8" front, 8.5" on the rear.
The fronts are slightly bigger than I expected and I'd probably go 7"/7.5" but I'm really happy with them.
