The Glasgow museums resource centre.

The title dosnt sound much but I do think you will find this interesting.The Glasgow museums resource centre or GMRC is basically the storage centre for anything in the Glasgow museums collection that is not out on show or needs restoration or preservation.I was lucky enough to meet the transport and model conservator last year and he told me to get in touch if I wanted a look round so a few weeks ago I took him up on the offer.Now this is a place that holds 1.4 million exhibits belonging to Glasgow so I waited until I had a full day for a look.When I got to his workshop he was working on LA1 (Glasgows first Leyland Atlantean bus) a Honda Insight, a BSA Sloper motorbike and a model ship gifted to Glasgow in 1888. Job envy developed within 3 seconds.Then we got to look around the various pods, the climate controlled storage rooms. Due to some re-shuffling we didnt get into the fine art rooms but I don't suppose anyone here will mind when you get to see what we did look around.Without further a do, here are some of my pictures. Looks fantastic.  I can just imagine what the american 'pickers' would feel like:- being left alone in there.

There's a lot of nice items in there that ought to be on display, more than some of the items they do have on show in the museums.  Anything in particular that stuck out and grabbed your interest?
