Respirator paint spraying mask advice

Can anyone recommend or offer advice on respirators suitable for use with aerosol spray tins and also Holts colour mix paints used with a air compressor and spray gun. I assume both paints are acrylic? The reason I ask is I have been spraying some wheels and although the JSP & 3M re-usable half mask I've tried are fitted with organic and particulate filters and make an air tight seal I can still smell paint or thinners through them. Can anyone offer advice?
Thanks

You need to be clean shaven with no beard for 100% face sealing. The mask also needs to fit your face. There are different types and manufacturers and they are all different so you may need to try some other brands.
The filters also need to be changed regularly and need to be suitable for the use to which you are putting them.
A paint shop or H&S equipment supplier should be able to help. Try to avoid DIY shops as they don't know what they are talking about generally.

Why not just go to your local automotive paint shop and buy one there?
That is exactly what I did

Cheers for your help Ian. I have already tried your suggestions apart from speaking to H&S officer so will look into this. In your opinion with everything correct should I be able to smell anything through the mask?borednow said
