I suspect that you would need a UK version or modify it for the plate, as over here we you occasionally see them
and the Plate was attached to the lower Rear Bumper.

Decades ago I was thinking of buying one for my Rabbit (US GOLF) but hedged as I wanted it illuminated, and didn't want to bother with trying to Illuminate it.

I found mine in German eBay.. then modified the rear bumper, using the plate recess from the front of a mk2 bumper..
