My car interior is Brown. Trying to source a Brown original parcel shelf was virtually impossible.
Newton Commercials do an after market one but only in Black. Believe me i tried to get them to do me one in brown.
Then i decided after watching a episode of Wheeler Dealers to try and Dye the carpet on the shelf. So i purchased a after market Shelf from Newton and this is the result.

About 20 odd years ago I had a Indiana(?) red 1.5 GL, it was pretty mint but the rear shelf was mangeled or missing (that long ago I can't remember lol).
Even back than I was resigned to never finding a hens-teeth brown shelf.
There was small old-school scrap yard about 2 or 3 miles away that I popped into one day and they had a MK1 with a brown interior and intact shelf. Result and think I only paid a tenner for it

You wouldnt find a MK1 now at a scrap yard unless they were selling it whole.
No, even then they were getting rare unless a VW specialist breaker
