Hi,
Wondering if anyone else has had any issues fitting a new windscreen and new rubber seal?
Both new from heritage parts so thought it would fly in
Mine seems as if the glass is to big by around 1/4", can seat the screen and get the sides in but top looks like a no go.
tried suckers on it to see if I can move it around but no give at all.
Cheers
Stuart

##Update##
So it looks like my new seal is causing the issue, my old screen wont go back in now!,
Anyone else had a similar issue and can recommend a good new seal supplier.
Cheers

Have you phones heritage and checked what you have been set is right. They are pretty good with advice and if you have been sent/ordered an incorrect seal they should help.
If all correct then plenty of fairy liquid and some good string/wire on the seal is all I can recommend.
Good luck.

And a lot of Fussin, and Cussin as you try to get the gasket correctly in place.
There are different gaskets for the MK1 vs the Cabriolet, and of them there are 2 styles of windscreens with the proper 90-93 glass that is wider and a tad taller than the original. The 89 and press in glass is directly replaceable and have been used in the past.
Some of the replacement seals are a tad shorter on the fitment than the oEM and if you don't get it sealed it can lead to rain water getting in under the lip to the "a" pillar.
In my archive section there is a link to a eastwood video on how they replaced the glass in a cabriolet…

Is it the really thick one? Or the one that looks like the original?
I have the thick one and and it was a bit of a pain. Eventually went in with a three man team. Me pulling string inside and getting it over the lip and two outside pushing.

Well it arrived in less than 24hrs so huge thanks to VW Heritage for the speedy delivery….
Just need the weather to play ball so I can lift the old 1 back out and refit the new seal, fingers crossed.
The original seal did seem quite thin in the middle where it would seal against the glass and car body, the 1st new seal definitely seems thicker, just hope the 2nd new seal is thinner

Ok so quick update..
.all fitted and slide in nicely, just needed to be seated correctly and well lubricated with soapy water, total time was about 10 minutes and I had never fitted 1 before.
Cheers
