I've owned several different types of cars over the years.
But can safely say I've never had so much attention than owning the Mk1
If I'm tinkering or washing it, it takes ages as everyone stops and wants to talk about it. It's funny watching people walk past stop and stare, take pics etc
Never the youngsters though haha
Do you guys get the same with yours?

Lol, yes I get the same! I never bought the car for attention (more of a mid life crisis thing) but it does get a lot of looks and attention.
People flashing their lights, people chatting, people asking if it's for sale, people telling me about magazines with articles on the MK1 that I might be interested in buying, sometimes it's just a comment like "nice" or "cool"! I also get people wanting to shake my hand and one guy last weekend was taking pictures of it as he followed me!
I find it's mainly people from their mid 50's down to youngsters and even kids walk around it and take pictures!

I usually get a "Nice Car, don't see many of these any more." I was stuck in traffic for construction, and one of the flag holders said "Awesome".
I usually get the "V" finger salute from fellow dubbers as I am driving, and my wife on occasion that she drives it to the store gets a "WOW"… I don't know if it is the car or for her.
Older folks would tell me stories about driving in a rabbit as a child.
I have a lot of memories in a Golf/Rabbit/Cabriolet as I have been driving them since the 80's.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?
They all start with GOOD Grounds.
Where are my DIY Links?

mid life crisis was the same for me. I always used to enjoy tinkering on my cars when I was younger but newer cars don't really allow for that in the same way.
Briano1234 I like the old people that stop, makes me happy that it makes the older guys happy and reminds them of memories. Is a pain when you're trying to wash it before the soap dries on haha
