There have been plenty of conversion threads on the VW vortex, but well they will stop me from driving Gassers up to the day they pry my dead cold hands off of the Gas Pump Nozzle…. :)

PS,  Think of it, they will have to install charging stations in every parking lot and space,  gonna cost Billions to convert all to Electric…..  Then you can sue for why Cars and not Planes…… :)

Dang Tree Huggers….
Remember Vote those Idiots out….

The thing over here is that the Environmental Perversion Agency is all Powerful and not a chance of voting them out, they are Left Coast Tree Hugging Bureaucrats whom you can't vote out….and are left basically unchecked by the people.

If you could stick the engine from my GTE into my MK1  I think it would even given the Tesla Ludicrous a run for its money!

Brian, when it comes to emissions you ain't seen nothing yet my friend compared to many Countries in Europe.

Here in Austria for example, vehicle emissions are strictly maintained full stop.

Other things like household trash.
For the last 25 years we are forced to separate all trash.
We have one bin for food products, one for paper and one for metal items. And yes they do check your trash from time to time and I know of people that have been fined after a written warning.

You can have a BBQ but you can't have a bonfire after you've removed growth from your garden. That has to be taken to the tip as with much of your waste.

If I go to the Gas Station to pressure wash my car I'm forbidden to use it under the bonnet/hood.

An oil change at a workshop costs an extra $7 to dispose of the old oil. If I do it myself I have to transport it to a disposal center and apart from the time and gas it costs me $10.

Oh and there's a lot more.

On electric power, yes it's coming.
Price of batteries are of course coming down dramatically but will all this effect us over say 40 years old when it comes to having our classic car band from the roads?

No, don't think so.
Yes emission output has to improve a great deal but I believe and it's only my opinion that they will leave petrol driven cars alone.

Certainly in our lifetime! ;)

Very interesting piece Mike . I tend to think taxation will really hit diesels hard so people will lose out on them in the long term.we all see the benefits of these measures but don't want the pleasures we enjoy, like our classic cars.curtailed.
Another practical problem is that it will take an awful long time to establish a pool of cars in the second hand market for electric cars. One of the areas of content for us golfies is that we picked up these motors for,in the majority of cases , well under five grand

See, there real issues that I see are they are all guessing wrong….  All this long term satellite data, saying three different things, Global Warming, Global Cooling, Climate Change, then you have to look at data manipulation.  Errors, omissions.  They are blaming the ozone hole, then R12, Cow Flatulence…

But what they fail to take into account is that with all the Satellites and manned Missions, Space shuttle, Apollo, Soyuz.  All those big Rockets are burning more atmosphere up than the tiny little car running r12.  I mean since 1949 they have been shooting thousands upon thousands of things up there, "I imagine they don't count that fact, or Volcano's spewing…Bogus, data being omitted. No wonder the ozone hole is growing, and to they take in to account that prior to the 1940, earths weight was the same, and the metric tons of metals have taken off planet has changed the orbital and rotational path of the earth?  Where the heck is that study as prior to that
the earths weight was the same, maybe moving about a bit,  But still the same.

EPA, is really emissions for really big cities, ie: Chicago, Atlanta, and only the 6 counties that are around it…

Each year it gets worse… Thankfully my Cabbies are on the antique list no more emissions.  and Emissions in some states are only surrounding certain area,  unlike California where there are no Bar-b-gues that use charcoal, only natural gas or propane.  I lived out there once, never again….

No Smoking, as it is also a contributor.  We have recycling that is optional, and I optionally choose not to, as I would be putting some one out of work who sorts it out at the processing plant.

My Brother who farms in Illinois has to really get plagued by the EPA, dead livestock has to be burned and buried in 24 hours….. Weed spraying, disease, pest resistant GMO seed……….

Big subject,  just saying…. Green Tree-Hugging Bureaucrats, that can't be voted out basing all their decisions on manipulated (well documented) data skewed for their viewpoint.

Yep, a skeptic, with a cracked warped sense of humor…
Looking at the big picture with a jaundiced eye.

Go figure..

These Governments bigwigs are fine as long as they’re polishing their own turds! Does my head in. They’ve got the money to do what the hell they want.. like the bloody pied piper… we simply got to follow regardless…

Interesting fact. It's hard to escape the feeling that this issue is a vote grabber rather than something that's been costed and thought through

Suicide doors,,, Great idea, long time becoming retro.
Don't work great in front collisions as they are like toasters…. Pop open on impact to eject the contents.
