How do you replace blended body colour arches with black trims?

Basically that- looking at a GTI that has had the arches blended into the body and painted in body colour- presumably this is a nightmare to put back to standard- cracking the paint to remove them and resulting in a fair bit of reprinting?

Put a picture up just in case but I would run a blade round the edge and then remove. Replace with new black ones. However if they have had filler put on them, then you could be up a creek….

Thanks for that- from the pictures it looks like they've been smoothed with filler… not what I would choose but it would probably have to wait for a full repaint for me to put it right- and do it properly! 

It's a car I'm looking at buying- my mk1 does years ago and while I've had some fun cars since I really miss it- nostalagia and it was brilliant!
