Well it didn't sell, so it shows he was clearly chancing it!
I bought a what looks to be a solidly built repro from Autodoc for less than £40. Not fitted it, but test positioning looks promising. Only thing I'm worried about is clearing speed bumps - the ground clearance is less than I thought it would be - and the car is only dropped 30mm!
