Evening all,
im currently in the middle of restoring my campaign and both of the doors really could do with replacing so I'm praying someone is breaking theirs and have them for sale?
Also it's a long shot but my tailgate has started to rust under the rubber seal so I am looking for a decent condition one too.
Ive seen there's a tailgate on vw heritage but it's a SA one and the wiper hole is in the wrong place?!
Thanks
Adam

How bad are your doors? Last time I looked you could still get a drivers side skin and I expect if you posted wanted ads on here you might even find a passenger skin. If it's just the door bottoms that have gone then you can get repair sections. Have a look on the link in my signature as I repaired my door bottoms recently with panels from VW Heritage and I had to make a new section for the inner skin of the door as it's not available. It wasn't too difficult to do and if you're able to do the resto yourself then I'm sure you could do that repair. If a body shop is doing the resto then they should definitely be able to do it . Good luck and pictures are always good 😉!
Matt.

Thanks Matt,
I think I'll get the repair panels as it's going to be done at a body shop so that will be the easier option.
I've uploaded a few pictures of it and I'll get some more when I start stripping it next week.

That's not a bad looking car from the pics! The paint looks tired but it looks quite solid. It looks to me like a bit of elbow grease coud turn that into a fairly respectable looking car. Does it need much for the resto and have you had it running yet? Have you considered getting it running and see what it fails on in an mot, just to see how well it is mechanically etc? With regards to the tailgate, is it badly rusted or just a few scabs starting? Really good body shops can repair most things for a fee so if your a bit of a purist (like me) then original is best! If the tailgate can't be repaired then a good second hand one would be your best bet. Where have the doors rusted? Is it the leading edge of the lower section that has gone, like mine had? Look forward to seeing a few more pics. Maybe you should start a thread in the "Your MK1 Golfs and projects" section.

I've had it looked over and it's a pretty straight car underneath so I'm getting the bodywork seen to as the arches have rusted and the front and rear valances have rotted away so I'm getting everything done in one go.
The bottoms of the doors have gone like yours so hopefully the repair panels should do the trick.
There's quite a bit of rust underneath the rubber so I'll see if the body shop will deal with it as I want to try and keep it original.
I think I'll start a link like you've suggested..
