Fuel starting issue

Car doesn't start at the moment and the filter in the engine bay is empty.

At a guess I'm thinking fuel pump from tank has failed?

Is this located under the car or under the seats in the rear

Mk1 cabriolet 91 1.8 carb

It was running guessing just starved of fuel now. Fuel gauge says I have half a tank
