So took a spare rear beam for powder coat today and some engine parts.
Anyway is there any point in upgrading from a standard gti ARB to something else. Only sees road use
If standard I shall remove mine over the winter and get it coated. If an upgrade is worthwhile then I can start my search.
Also to poly bush or not to poly bush. I am thinking yes but once again is there any point. Either way new bushes all round on the back so makes not a lot of difference which I pay for.
Note suspension will be springs and shocks. Standard for a while then a 1 to 2 inch drop eventually.
Cheers
Craig.
In a strange way I am looking forward to winter.

Was that due to the bone jarring teeth chattering ride?
What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?
They all start with GOOD Grounds.
Where are my DIY Links?

So you have confirmed my concern about poly bushing. Not really for road use.
What about the ARB itself. Keep the original one or upgrade. If upgrade what is the one to go for.
My gut feel is that the cars backend is so light anyway little point in an upgrade unless I want to try and lift a wheel on corners

If its tintop I cant comment because I've only driven one very fragile one very carefully
If its a cabrio they are so heavily braced anyway its probably not worth it.
From experience on other VAG platform vehicles lower strut braces make the most difference to body roll
With regards to bush changes or upgrades this probably isnt relevant to the mk1 chassis but when ever I've changed something on a Mk4 based car be it a Mk4 a leon or my octavia I've always gone for the highest performance model alternative.
E.g wish bone bushes have gaps to allow a bit of movement but R32 or TT have solid bushes.
Bit firmer but a happy medium over poly stuff.
Do a bit of research and see what the best of both worlds is
