Anyone had a good alarm and tracker fitted recently? Would like to know what to look out for and average cost of supply and fit. Thanks

Alarm and Tracker recommendations
I've had a company in St Neots called 'The Biz' fit Cobra cat 1 alarm/immobilisers to a few cars over the last few years. No Mk1 but Mk2 Golf. I've been really happy with them and never had issue with them randomly going off. I will be using them to fit one to my Mk1 when it's eventually back on the road.

I'm not really a fan of alarms, everyone ignores them anyway. Only benefit I can see is the possible insurance discount you may get.
I visual deterrent is just as effective to stop someone breaking in, and some kind of hidden switch to cut power to something like the fuel pump acts as a good immobiliser.
However, I have just had one of these cheap trackers delivered which was recommended on another forum and also have lots of very positive reviews on Amazon;
GPS Car Tracker with GPRS and Vehicle Theft Protection System (Model:TK103A): Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo
For £20 it seems worthy of a punt. I'll be fitting it to my E30, if it works as well as suggested, my Golf will also be getting one.

I had the tracker fitted to my MKIV Turbo, very happy. id consider a lifetime subscription to it once the MK1 is done, as so many seem to walk lately.
