MK1 Cabriolet GTi wanted

Hello,

I've moved house and finally own a garage to store a car! Had to sell my cab a few years ago as the family grew but on the hunt to fill that large gap it left behind!

Here's broadly what I'm after:

Mk1 GTi Convertible
Pre 88 with the small black bumpers.
Colour pref from favourite to least: Blue, black, silver ,white, red
I don't mind lighter modifications on suspension/wheels or interior but don't really want something that 15 people have screwed around with before I get my hands on it!

Budget up to £6k

Not looking for a show car, obviously, but equally don't have the money for proper bodywork and respray in the next couple of years.

Let me know if you have / know of anything that might fit the bill. I'm based in Hertfordshire.

I have an '86 Cabriolet GTi in dark blue. I spent a year bringing it to roadworthy condition and used it at weekends for a year or so. After laying up for winter it refused to fire up in Spring and after spending lots of time on it I narrowed it down to the fuel injection distributor. I took it to the local garage where it's waiting attention from the local Bosch experts.It's currently here in Spain on Spanish historic registration which can be reregistered in the UK for a nominal fee.
