Any 1.6 GTI (cabrio or hatchback) with rotten shell wanted

I'm creating a track car and have a solid shell but need the mechanical stuff to go in it.  So I'm looking for a complete car - any model, provided it has a 1.6 fuel-injected engine.

Close to Birmingham would be a bonus, but willing to travel for the right car.

That very much depends on what's being offered, but in the region of £500 seems sensible.

Why not just
Engine etc? I have a 1.6 I'd pull out to sell. 

Want to sell the whole car but want over 2k for it.

I meant the person asking for a car to scrap when an engine and running gear can be bought. 

If I buy a whole car, I'll get all of the ancillaries and (hopefully) the electrics and so on will be intact, so it will make installation a lot simpler. It'll also mean I won't find be chasing around for sundry parts. 

I'm starting with a bare shell, so an engine is just one of many parts I'll need. 

I'm sure there are still plenty of thoroughly rotten cars out there.  

NB if your car is worth 2 grand, it's too good to scrap.
