Unmolested silver campaign model. Perfect working order
It is a Mark 1 Golf GTI registration A728 HLM. It has covered just over 100,000 miles (I think its 102k or 103k). Colour silver, Large ?P? Pirelli alloys, and absolutely totally original through out. Correct seats, correct gear knob, no additional go-faster body enhancements. Actually I don?t have the original stereo as far as we can tell.
The paintwork is far from its best. The roof and bonnet particularly have lost their lacquer, and look scruffy. There are a couple of small rust spots starting to show along the sills and on the door corners. These are cosmetic at the moment but will need attention to stop further infection.
The bumpers are that horrible faded grey, symptomatic of 25 years in the sun (I have an aunt who is also suffering from the same condition). The drivers seat is just starting to show a little fraying on the shoulder, but generally the interior is all present and correct, with only a clean and a ?push back in to place? the occasional need.
I can?t remember if it is an 82 or 83 A, but I can find out engine numbers and chassis numbers if you like. I know they match, and as far as I am aware it has had no accident damage.
The Car has been in the Family since 1998, we are the second owner, the first being Sir Robert McAlpine (although it was actually used by his son). I haven?t changed the V5 in to my name (from my girlfriend), so at the moment it shows as two owners. It has been properly serviced through out its life, most recently by a small independent mechanic that has been a family friend for many years. I have been using a lead replacement product from ?wurth? in my short tenure..
So it is all present and correct. Drives beautifully, has scary brakes and a cheap nasty stereo. I want ?2000 for the car.
(I ahve pictures that somehow manage to mask the paintwork problems slightly, it don?t look that good in the flesh)
The car is located in Clapham, London .
Price: ?1950.00 As stated

From the photos I saw this looks like a very good basis for a minter with a bit of work.

Thanks Ned. I definitely agree (unsurprisingly). I was going to take the time to do this myself, but my job has made me move to Luxembourg, so I want to get it to a good home asap. (It has just been sitting for two months now).
I am just hoping that someone needs a strong, reliable, original working car, who can then take their time in getting her back to A1 condition. It really drives very, very well.
