Unique opportunity to buy rare Mk1 project at low price
Thanks to a house move of over 350 miles plus the purchase of a Mk1 Golf GTI Cabriolet and a Lancia Delta HF Integrale, my Mk1 Golf is for sale.
The car is in pieces in my parents garage in County Durham, although some parts are with me in Surrey. Delivery to anywhere in England could be arranged. I would also consider splitting the car but if someone makes me an offer on the whole lot, they are welcome to it.
Bodyshell - 1983 Mk1 Golf 1.3 Driver body shell with DW chassis number, reg no. A329 XBB. V5 is present and car is currently on SORN. Shell painted Mars Red but desperately requires full re-paint. Drivers door, bonnet and drivers front wing in Schwarz Black. Rear wheel arches have small amount of surface rust on outer face.
The bodyshell is a rolling shell at the moment. Interior is stripped although the dash is still in place with the original Driver clocks.
The shell is sitting on three year old, genuine VW main dealer suspension, new wishbones, polybushes, new top mounts and springs.
Also with the car, but currently not fitted is;
BRAKES - Complete Mk2 16v brake setup comprising 254mm Tarox vented, drilled, groved discs, EBC brake pads, 16v calipers with Audi 90 Caliper Carriers, Goodridge braided brake hoses, Mk2 GTI rear discs and calipers on [bent] rear beam with Mk1 Scirocco 16v hand brake cables, Mk2 GTI 16v brake servo and master cylinder
SUSPENSION - Complete approx. 3-4 years old dampers with Eiback lowering springs. This is in addition to the suspension currently on the shell
ARB's - Neuspeed upper and lower anti-roll bars plus wishbone brace-bar. Rear Neuspeed lower anti-roll bar requires eye-bolt/rose joint. Also Sparco strut top brace.
WHEELS - car is sitting on 14" 5-spoke MIM alloy wheels with Wolfsburg Edition centre caps. Car does need a set of tyres.
INTERIOR - Mk1 Golf GTI campaign red-stripe front and rear seats (rear seat trim removed put intact and not ripped - just needs re-fitted).
ENGINE - Ex-Brian Rickets Motorsport engine with approx. 115k miles on the clock. However, this engine was rebuilt by TSR 20k miles ago. Unknown internal specification but does have alloy finned sump. Made 105bhp at the wheels after rebuilt (approx. 140bhp atf) when on K-jet injection. However, also includes a matched pair of WEBER DCOE 40 carburettors with throttle linkage. No inlet manifold but eveything else is there including Filter King regulator, Facet electric fuel pump and twin K&N tin air filters. Car expected to make 150bhp once on carbs. Engine includes 5-speed 020 gearbox.
EXHAUST - TSR (Miltek style) 4-1 branch tubular exhaust manifold, long life custom centre section in stainless steel and stainless steel Magnex back box. Also included with the car is a full Powerflow stainless steel system which is currently on the car.
MISC - Car includes both Driver and GTI steering racks. GTI Campaign MFA clocks along with MFA wiper-stalk. Spare dashboard in car. GTI engine mount (not fitted but an easy weld up job). Zender style 3-piece spoiler.
PARTS YOU'LL NEED TO FIND - Front grill and headlights, GTI 5-speed gear linkage (car includes partial gear linkage but is missing some parts), GTI Radiator and Fan, fuel filler neck, carpet set.
This car is most definately a PROJECT! but it includes all the right bits ad would make a very nice car. I have reams of receipts and history for the car. I'll be sad to see it go but I have a new project so need to find a loving home for this one.

Well it'd be ???'s coming from Surrey (where I am) but 'll amke some calls 'coz when I sold my Mk1 Polo I got a price of ?105 to deliver it from Newcastle to Leeds. Leave it with me and I'll see what I can work out.
