possibly for sale... 1988 GTI cabrio

Now this is only a possibility, as they say everything is for sale at the right price, and if theres no genuine interest I have no problem keeping it and getting it to the standard I want.

Recently fitted a 1600 Kjet in place of the frankly crap (and wrong!) 1.8 carb engine it had when I bought it
Enzo cups, 15x7s rear tyres are budgets with good tread, both front pirellis could do with being changed
EXCELLENT shell, never been welded apart from a steering rack mount, few light bubbles in places, drivers door has a rust hole in the front bottom corner, only other fault I could pick is the chassis rails underneath seem to have been squashed, possibly by axle stands been applied wrongly, I've had it on stands for ages in my garage on the rails with no further damage so they're still structurally sound
New fuel filler pipe (fitted by previous owner)


Things I have done since ownership;

Replaced the engine as above, with what I believe is a 1600 GTI gearbox
New oil/filter
New fuel filter
New rear foglight
New 4 branch manifold
Fitted good second hand coilovers, rears still need fitting
Visited chortle for some of his expert roof fettling, all 3 tension cables replaced, along with all window seal gaskets
Fitted another grille as the original was damaged, and new end caps
Just bought some new boot badges, someone removed the gti badge with a regular golf badge, I now have the correct badges
Brand new number plates
New heater panel as the old one was nasty

Now the bits that need doing;

Fuel pump needs replacing, got a 2nd hand replacement only to find it was duff
Somehow the outer CV on the n/s shaft has seperated, wierd as it worked perfectly until I swapped engines and hasn't been anywhere! I have spare shafts though
Interior wants replacing really, drivers seat is all chewed up, and door cards have been butchered for speakers
Front bumper wants re-fitting, I wanted to replace the bumper iron as its been repaired in a strange way, I never knew it until I removed the bumper though

The car is in storage in Lincoln, like I said I'm not desperate to sell it, its just one of those times when the cash would be handy, and tbh I'm hankering after a tintop GTI or a mk4 gt tdi. I'd be wanting somewhere around £1k, it wants a weekends work to get it up to daily driver status, and if thats asking too much then hey ho it can stay in the garage getting worked on as and when I get time.
