MK1 Golf GTi (+ 9A engine) or P/X Corrado

1983 'MK1' Golf 1.8 8v GTi (I think this might be a Campaign but not sure how to check)

Boring bits

* 154,000 miles
* Lhasa green
* Factory fitted metal sunroof
* 8 months MOT (April 2nd 2008)
* Tax till end of August 2007
* HPI clear
* 11 previous owners (well it is 24 years old)
* 4 almost new tyres
* Resprayed appox 3 years ago (arch trims only recently fitted so all the arches are good

Recent work

** All work carried out has done less than 1000 miles **

* Camblet and tensioner and fanbelt replaced
* Head gasket replaced (new head bolts)
* N/S diff seal replaced
* Oil pressure switch replaced
* Both front wheel bearings replaced (back are fine)
* Full service inc. oil, water, spark plugs (Bosch), ignition leads, dizzy + rotor arm
* New waterpump
* Water hardpiping replaced for rubber water pipe (metal one had rusted out, as they do)
* New upper cambelt cover, rocket gasket (rocker has been painted)
* 4 new Bosch fuel injectors
* Tuned by TSR to get it running right made 114BHP and 101 lbft torque (better than standard!)
* Front anti roll bar bushes replaced
* New brake pads

Exterior

* New upper and lower chrome strips all round
* Nearly new crystal crosshair headlamps
* Standard GTi 9 spoke "trantula" alloys (all in good nick, have been repainted at some point)
* Original GTi stripes along seals
* Original 'duckbill' front splitter

Interior

** Most interior bits I list have been sourced second hand in very good conidtion **

* Green stripe GTi interior, drivers bolster has worn through (whos hasn't?) rest is good, would benefit from a clean
* Proper boot carpet
* Good parcel shelf and supports
* Good orginal door pockets with chrome trim
* Nearly new JBL speakers fitted behind the front door pockets
* Alpine CD player
* All interior switches work as they should
* Speakers in rear doors (not wired in, was going to get new door cards to replace them)
* Original 4 button GTi steering wheel
* MFA

Chasis

* Lowered 60mm (unknown springs) on standard shocks, very nice ride
* Standard front and rear ARB's

Engine

** Please see 'Recent work' for more engine info **

* TSR polished inlet plenum (matched for Audi TB)
* Audi throttle body (not yet fitted)
* Supersprint S/S exhaust manifold
* Nearly new GSF middle exhaust section

Bad bits

* Engine a bit tappety (not a difficult job really)
* Idles a bit lumpy
* Clutch slips if pushed hard in 3rd and 4th gear, maybe just the cable needs adjusting
* A few rust bubbles here and there but nothing broken through paint
* Oil warning buzzer comes on over 2k rpm which is due to a bad earth behind the dash (if you hit the top of the dash it turns off)
* Previous owner cut out the rear valance to fit an aftermarket exhaust (have new replacement panel to fit)

Spares

** I have a few spares around can't think of them all at the moment **

* A set of 4 Revolution 4 spoke alloys (with conversion studs and hub centric spacers to clear calipers)
* Standard inlet plenum
* Power ROHR pipe
* Spare oil pressure switch

!! 2.0 16v 9A engine almost ready for conversion !!

** Pretty much ready for putting into the car, I was going to buy all new bolt on parts but I guess you wouldn't need to do that **

* Recently purchased 2.0 16v 9A engine from a 91 Passat done 109k
* Supersprint full conversion exhaust system (manifold, downpipe, middle section, connection section, backbox) brand new (cost near ?600) !!
* Blocked stripped and inspected, everything is perfect (no wear on the bores at all!)
* Blocked has been painted ready to fit
* Head pressure test done, 2 valves are sticking open slightly due to carbon build up
* Head has been partly stripped (cams removed) ready to be cleaned then lapped back in (have grinding stick and lapping paste)
* ECU, gearbox, clutch, flywheel, driveshafts all included

That is the basics, I'm sure I've forgotten a few things will update the thread as soon as I think of things, but for now, more boring bits :)

Reason for selling - I bought this car because ever since I've been into dubs (about 7 years now) I've wanted a MK1. I've now been faced with reality and the fact is I can't afford nor have the time to make the car how I have invisiged it in my head. One day when I'm in a better position I will buy another one.

I will need a car to replace this one, I'm looking for a 2.0 16v Corrado, anything but green (owned several green cars) FSH or good history a must, not too high mileage (110k max) modified or standard (would be nice to get one with a decent set of wheels and lowered suspension) I'm will to do a straight PX or cash either way.

Pictures

** Pictures were taken when I first got the car, a few things have changed since then I will get new pictures up at the weekend if the weather is good**

I hope that covers everything, if you do have any Q's please don't hesitate to contact me I'll do my best to help.

Thanks for looking

Just thought I'd add that I am open to offers and I don't really want to split any of it yet but I might consider splitting if I get no interest as 1 lump :)
