Hi all, I am sadly going to part with my mk1 mars red campaign GTi. I have owned many mk1's but this was always going to be my keeper but not anymore due to us buying a camper (VW of course) and not having space for two vehicles. The car has been dry stored for best part of 10 years and is very good order and is solid as a rock, yes it does have the odd mark as you would expect and the paintwork is faded in places but has never been messed with. The bonnet did have a few issues so I got a replacement but have also kept the original for the next owner. When I got the car out of storage I gave it to my mechanic who has got the car running, starting and stopping. I will list the work that has been done from memory, all new brake and fuel lines have been fitted, new bosch fuel pump, all new discs pads and carriers have been fitted, new bosch injectors, plugs, filter, complete new exhaust system with an uprated manifold, the engine has also been rebuilt from the bottom up and has a performance cam fitted, not sure of the make, this was fitted before my ownership, uprated brake module and the kjet system has been flushed through and cleaned. the interior is in very good condition and I can supply more pictures on request but the car is still with my mechanic, should be getting it back in the newt two weeks.  this being a campaign model it comes with the EW chassis number, tilt and slide sunroof, p slot wheels with the single A (do not need to tell you lot that!) and the leather bound steering wheel in perfect condition. As the car had been sitting a while my mechanic took the opportunity to redo the wire loom whilst getting the car road worthy. There will be things that need doing on this car and is by no means perfect but does have the credentials to become a really nice campaign when done. I have made sure all the work has been done to a good level and my mechanic (a vw specialist) has had the car for over six months and is now putting is all back together. The car does come with a service book and various paperwork including the first owner who was a doctor from London, this is one of the good ones and will be very sad to see it go but making memories with the kids is top of our priority list right now and my mk1 days will have to wait! (for now)

I have priced the car for what I think it is worth but I would listen to sensible offers but would not let it go for silly money, this sale is not financially motivated and if it does not sell then I will pay for storage and tuck it away for another 10 years.

Hi. Is this still for sale? I'm on the lookout for a decent base for a mk1 part resto. Is the mileage in the ad correct as the last MOT was showing 167k. I'm very interested but quite a way from you. I'd be interested in seeing the walk round video if possible. Thanks. Craig.
