Gti project -Pls see revised post
The time has come where I need to choose between my Gti project and my growing family.
If anybody can make me a reasonable offer on the following list of goodies then I'll keep the family, if no offers then it looks like I'll need a garage I can sleep in.
First, some background:
This ad is for 2 cars, one complete, one broken.
I have owned the LHD 1100 for 18 years. I bought it while living in Europe & imported it to the UK in mid 90's. It is fully UK registered & legal, currently SORN but it could be driven away given tax, petrol & a push start.
The old 1100 motor was starting to feel a bit tired (especially after I got a Mk5 Gti…) so I found myself looking for a way to give her a new lease of life. Along came a Gti with good mechanicals but a shot shell, so my project was born to make one good Gti from the 2 donors.
I have v5s, all paperwork, plates etc for both cars incl bundles of MOTs, service receipts etc.
Models:
-1983 1100 LX -100% complete car, helios blue, no sun roof, LHD, 4 headlight grill, blue cabrio alloys, chassis code WVWZZZ172DW432… Shell in great condition, been in my garage for most of the last 5 years. No welding needed, the paint is in remarkable condition for a 27 year old but it does have some inevitable chips & scratches.
-1983 1800 Gti -Fully stripped RHD UK car, everything included except shell & wheels. All mechanicals, interior, electrics, fuel system, exhaust, all parts to convert the donor shell eg engine & steering mounts. Chassis code WVWZZZ172DW213… May be campaign model, not 100% sure but it has leather steering wheel, 4 lamp grill, tinted glass etc.
Mileage:
118,000 miles on the Gti (previous owner listed engine rebuild at 100,000).
172,000 KM on the LX (motor runs ok but gets a bit hot & bothered in traffic so would advise a rebuild if you wanted to make the 200,000 km mark).
Location:
Surrey, KT13.
Price:
I know I'm supposed to include a price in this ad but given the nature of this project, I'm finding it difficult to assess a fair value. I really don't want to put it on an auction site it as I think this is a good chance for a club member to save a Mk1 from an e-bay fate so I'm leaving this open to offers.
Contact details:
PM me.
Thanks.
Jim
Edit: Apparently a price is required so let's say £500 ONO.
Edit: A few people have asked about photos, I'll do my best to extract it from the garage as soon as it stops raining & will update the post with some soon.
