Bargain 1983 Mk 1 Golf 1500 GX

This car was the last in the series. VW really went to town with the GTI interior and front fog lights. The condition of the metallic paintwork is generally very good considering the age of the car, although there are a few rust spots on the passenger?s front side door. This is surface rust and would not be too difficult to sort out. To my knowledge the panels are all original. The car passed its MOT in March 2007 with flying colours. In fact the MOT examiner remarked on the good condition of the car. The underbody of the car is fine & the sills have been under-sealed. The chassis has never been welded. This is a five gear model with no problems with the gears to report. As this car is 1457cc it does travel quite fast when needed (Webber carb).
The mileage is just short of 102,000 and I have 15 MOT certificates to prove this. There is some service history for the car. However more recently I have serviced the car by a retired VW mechanic. I have had some work done to the car over the years including:

New Webber carburetor,
Piston rings replaced at 95,000 miles (valves seats also re-ground)New petrol filler tube,
4 relatively new Goodyear tyres,
Brake servo replaced,
New battery and ignition coil,
New radiator.

The interior of the car is in good condition although there are signs of wear on the driver?s side seat.

I have owned this car for the past 13 years and it has served me very well during this time. I have used this car sparingly over the years - averaging 2 to 3 thousand miles per year. However as I have a new job that requires a 50 mile round trip on a daily basis, I need to let this car go. The car is taxed until the end of June 2007.

I?m looking for ?525 O.N.O. That?s not bad for a truly original car that starts first time and is very reliable. With a little effort this car could be show material and a real head turner.

I can't believe that you havn't sold it already,Going by the pics and the history you have with the car well worth the money.
Ive got two Mk1,s already but if I had the room and use for it I would probebly have yours aswell.Shame you have to sell it.Hope it goes to a good home.
