Window Rattle
Hi,
Looking for some advise as still new to the mk1!
When i have the front windows down it sounds like the glass is shaking around in the window frames/runners, when the glass is shut theres almost no noise at all. (also the passenger side doesnt go down as far as the drivers side?!?)
Looking from the outside between the glass and the scaper theres a gap but only 1-2mm.
Can you tighten the window mech's at all or do i need new scraper seals? Or something totally different!
Cheers

i had this on my clipper, the reason behind mine may differ to yours, its really best to take door card off and have a nose about, for me it was the window runner trim had broken half way down so when window was lower enough in runner there was no trim for glass to rest in and so it rattled, could be a few different things that cuase it, as i said best to spend 10-15 mins investagating it
runners lose, trim missing broken mech even

There should be a couple of felt pads that press against the edge of the glass and stop it rattling.
1983 Mars Red 1.8 Golf GTI
1987 Alpine White 1.8 Clipper Cabriolet
The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

will do but there are a special item order and the estimate is 2-3 weeks….it'd be best if I post before, during and after shots as well so it's clear to all which bits I'm replacing/adding.

ah my bad, I assumed this was a mk1 tintop! That part isnt for cabrio
on yours I would check the condition of the felt slot down the front guide, and the fit of the rearmost guide bolted to the glass on the metal runner inside the door
also wiggle the rear guide, make sure its bolted tight. it has one nut at the top and some bolts in the very bottom of the door
plus give the glass a good wiggle and see if you can feel where the play is
