Just don't try putting the car in reverse on axle stands. Ferris Bueller tried it and look what happended to him
As crazyquiff says you can move the digits inside the clock but they will look tampered with and may not align properly once you've done it.

I did this to a ford before, I connected a drill to the Speedo and run it in reverse, dont do it too fast though, it didn't like it. It may work on a VW, it didn't take too long to do and didn't look tampered with.

Just to reiterate Dave's 'drill method', my mate did on his RX7 and it worked fine.

I did the drill thing and found it has a top speed of 90mph on number 2 speed setting. Seeing as there was a few thousand miles to go before it reached the desired reading, I desided not to bother lol

old thread but very useful. I need to add on ~70,000 miles to the odometer.
So this will take me 778 hours with a 90mph drill!!
any easier method? or just advise clocks were changed and MOT's back it up…?

I took clocks apart and simply pushed the numbers to the right reading on one set of clocks, worked fine and lined up as it did before?
