water water everywhere even after new roof (Clipper)
this is for MK1 clipper - i have had a look through the forums,i only found
stuff about non-soft tops…so any advice/tips welcome
the hood was knacked anyway and had to be replaced, but water is still
pouring in.after this weekend at least 1" of water right through bottom
of the car - lucky i had not put the carpet back in after first noticed leak
and removed it -had to throw underlay away it was totally minging, must
have been wet for years.
this afternoon a guy at a local spares shop showed me the drain plugs under
bonnet they both totally blocked with muck, have cleaned them out.
i take note of the rear light clusters but am too thick to really understand-
can some kind soul explain in words of one syllable?
and any other ideas as to where this flipping leak is?going to and from
work is like being in a U-Boat with all that water slooshing about!!
please dont say "buy a henry" LMFAO
also - any tips of removing those glued to the floor sound-deadening panels?the water is even under them and they starting to crack..
spasiba…

put some blue dye in a bucket, then …..
top right of the door window, maybe the rubbers have gone and arnt sealing tight?? :dontknow:
i did my roof this year and im gettin leaks in thro the rear window too, you need to really chase the leak when its not rainin, with a bucket of water well thats what i did.
best of luck

Where is the water actually coming in? I had a leak but sorted it very easily.
Give us some more clues so we can help.

and trip to area outside hosepipe ban LMFAO - its still in force here.
i have funny feeling it was the drain-away pipes on the gulley under the bonnet.they were blocked solid..

ive had a new roof and im still experiencing a leak on both sides of the car right onto the seat bolster.. i thought it might be the cables but ive had them replaced unless they need to be tightened again.. does anyone know how much new seals all round are?

Probably just the foam seal that goes between the carrier and rubber. I had the same problem not long ago. They perish and need replacing that's all. Only a few pounds from VAG. Much cheaper than getting the rubbers.
Try this first.

Get a mate to sit inside and throw a few buckets of water or a hose over different parts of the car until you see some coming in. Turned out mine was where the door had sunk fractionally and it wasnt giving a good seal at the top.

Lord_Xorrosho, if the drain holes get blocked on a mk1, the water level gets too much for the rain catch tray and floods into the heater motor housing.
I found this out with my first mark one years back when it lived under a tree outside the house. one morning going to work had wet feet!
The current Mk1 cabrio suffered with a wet floor, especially on the Pass side. Took me a small while to find it. Water was dripping off from the radio antenna wire, that comes through the bulkhead. The rubber grommit was missing. As water was running down from the catch tray rubber drain holes, the antenna lead was transfering water into the car. loads of silicone filled the hole, where the grommit lived. Dry now!
hope it helps

Sorry mate I haven't got a clue. Just nip along to the parts desk and explain, they'll find it on the computer for you. Don't let them charge you more than ?10.00. If it costs more than that it's the wrong part.

155 871 431 is the part number. I think you get 3 strips per bag, enough to do one side of the hood… front, middle and back sections of the frame.
Cheers,

Yep they're the bits plus 35C that goes down the rear section of frame. It looks like I might be wrong… I think you need to order one separately for each section of frame. Each length you buy being 560mm.
