Stopper
Does anybody use stopper after using body filler? My friend recommends i use it but do i really need it? I currently have lots of etch primer and filler primer to go on but want to be sure that I dont need stopper. Thanks Guys.

I hate the stuff! I found it a complete waste of money
it reacted with the filler and primer I used and bubbled!
In the end I sanded it all off and threw the rest away! just needed to get an extra coat or 2 of primer on.. high build primer will 'fill' any pin holes left in the filler

Thanks Phil. I have bought loads of filler primer. Maybe too much! 4L of filler primer and 3L of Etch.

that'll do the job nicely :wink:
let us know how you get on, I'll be respraying mine again next year but getting a pro to do the prep work.. can't handle the crisp packet look any longer!

I remember using stopper on one of my Minis years ago, just to tidy up a couple of minor imperfections in a skim of filler. Was a night mare! Was such hard stuff to sand down, made more mess than I had originally and had to start all over again! :evil:

I've only used stopper a couple of times but I get on with it ok. I've found it easier to rub down, thats supposed to be one of the properties it has!
Its only supposed to be used in the minutist of quantities after filler to fill up pin holes etc.
This is the front number plate surround from the sportline that was split with a fairly large chunk missing…
Here it is filled with UPOL SMC carbon fibre reinforced plastic filler stuff. Its good, you can see how I built it up to replace missing chunk. I'd initially superglued the split to hold it in the correct position.
So… here is the stopper on top. Its the yellow specs…
It filled the split nicely too.
Time to prime next!

Stopper is meant to be applied very very finely and sanded using lots of water with wet n dry, its basically to fill in deep scratches from the low grades of sanding.. basically for the perfectionist
i use it on the wheels as i do blow-ins, i cant apply too much paint so its gotta be as flat n smooth as possible
