Sound proofing underlay?
Whats the best thing to use under the carpets, as an underlay or sound proofing, shall i just go to the local scrappy and get some out of another car and cut it and glue it down?
also for the roof
shall i use foam?

We can get underlay, and aalso the stuff used for the roof lining.. :wink:

Make sure it's the same thickness as the original stuff or else the carpets won't fit properly.
I used some really modern thin stuff and the carpets are then not right.

tallpete is right if its not thick enough it spoils the carpet
This months GOLF+ magazine has fitting MK1 carpets including sound deadning from http://www.newtoncomm.co.uk/index.jsp so worth the pennies just to see how it goes so buy the mag

welljust been shopping around and i can get ahold of the orignal or the proper stuff its felt backed with a rubber or polythene style backing 1/2 inch thick underlay for cars, its 100cm x 137cm and minimum order is 5 sheets
at a cost of ?10 deliver per sheetso total ?50 delivered! not bad ehh
i will be doing a group buy of this stuff if neone is interested!

Had a look on woolies website they do it for ?9.79 thats excluding the delivery and the vat

well the cheapest ive found was for 5m felt backed with pvc at 135cm width

or per metre ?10
i can also get the simple needle felt

once i get pictures and few more intrior prices will try and get vinyl prices too and a qupote for Matz
