Silver Bumper strip....

My rear bumper, which is black plastic-vinyl, has 2 silver strips on it, the one on the bottom is ok but the top one is peeling and needs replacing. Went to the dealer today but got the usual, obsolete… try the magazines….  short of buying a new bumper, which I don`t want to do, does anyone know where I can get hold of one of these…..????     1984 Cabriolet, 1800 Gti….. :dontknow:

I tried all over mate, they can't be found except as secondhand items. The original ones were grey with the 'chrome' stripe but as you say they are obsolete.

I got all my plastics from GPC, Luton 01582 728892. They post out and have a good selections of stuff that they don't offer in their yellow magazine adverts.

you can get the chrome effect strip on the roll not 100% same but better than nowt, it has an adhesive strip on back to attach it to whatever, let us know if you are interested and ill do a bit of groundwork

Hi, only had my car a month now, I`ll have to post some pics of the interior…. it`s cream with a burberry check inside, and the dash is brown…..  very nice I think!! :wink:

Thanks for the help… I`ll have a look at GPC soon… I`m bogged down with BBS wheels at the moment… They`re really cheap on Ebay!!

Found the chrome strip on Ebay… but not sure if it`s any good… might give it a try… much cheaper than new bumpers…. when the old ones aren`t that bad….  do you know any links in Germany etc for the chrome trim?   Thanks again mate !  

i dont m8 sorry, the stuff i found in the back of a car, it is self-adhesive but the glue doesnt seem to be too clever but that combined with a bit of no-more-nails should hold it pretty steady i reckon.  i reckon this stuff could be found at diy places also? would tide u over while u get proper thing tho ill keep my eyes open and give u a shout if i see owt,
