Seats

One the cables that runs inside my passenger seat has snapped meaning that I cant pull the seat forward to let people into the back of my car.
Does anyone know where I can get 1 of these from and has any1 managed to replace it without ripping the back off the seat?
thanks

as far as I know you can still get the cables from VAG, its not an easy job to do though as you'll have to take the seat apart and take most of the upper cloth off to gain access to the cable. But it can still be done. For the mean time you can always lift the catch up manually at the back to tilt the seat (theres one at either end of the seat)

I was thinking I might just be able to thread the cable through without ripping the back of the seat off, but ill get hold of the cable and see.
thanks

Seats

Hi b

Did the job on both my seats a few months ago……..

Cables are approx ?7-8 from VAG…

At the bottom of the back of the seat there are about 5 nasty hooks that go thru the material, they have to be straightend to let the material off the hooks and they bend under the seat (thats how the material is held on to the frame.
Next thing to do is to take the material out of the lever frame (when the material is loosened, the frame just hangs loose over the lever…dont worry it wont go anywhere….all you have to do then is to 'hitch' up the material as far as you can…u will see the way the cables goes (thru a couple of eyelets and then up to the lever…..it is a bit of a fiddle and there maybe a few 'words' spoken and grazed knukles…a torch is handy to look up inside the material……I did my two in an hour….good luck

It's only one bolt to remove the whole seat from the car - definaltely worth pulling it out and doing the repair in the house!
