rusty fuel tank

hello all,

anybody know where I can buy a fuel tank for my 1982 GTI ?

because mine seems to be on the rottern side !

 

VW still did them last year (but at over ?350 I wouldn't!)

GSF have them listed but not sure what they're like @ ?60ish

best bet would be a second hand one from crazyquiff or scouse I'd say

just called GSF and they are ?69.50 + vat & the filler neck is ?33 + VAT better start saving !!

I had a fuel tank repaired by a specialist, it was for a Mercedes so I imagine a new one would have been hundreds. It was quite an involved repair, lots of patches etc and it cost ?80 and came back painted too.

Just a quick word of warning on the Gsf tanks - they dont seem to be fitted with the tank baffle flap thingy that sits inside the filler neck hole on genuine tanks , hence hot day + full tank of cruise juice = paint stripped waist trim and i'm also looking for a new set of gti side stipe stickers in black ? . Not having alot of luck lately .
