removing the rear bumper.
i like the look of no bumper effect on mk1 golfs (well until i save up for a chrome one) so i started to remove it at got the bumper part off fine but then it came to taking off the mounts. the nut have gone soft and i have now rounded them
could anyone advise on how i should take them off. all help appreciated.
cheers

open the boot.
look just above the floor on either side.
2 heads each side.
remove them.
you dont have to remove the bumper irn you take it out in one go.

no mate. i own 1 golf. and i work no where near a dealers.
front indicators you will have to make a bracket for.
do you know what type of indicators you are going for?
you shouldn't need to weld anything though.

theres no where to fit them other than the bumper mate.
you need to either get side repeaters like this
which is lawsys old gti. or mini front indicators
which is hiluxs motor
have a look though this thread for ideas.

its a bigger job than i thought. is there really no way of using the original indicators? tho the mini indicators do look quite good.

Fitting different indicators isn't that complicated. You could always cable-tie the originals to the bodywork somewhere, as Lawsy has done before. Otherwise you'll have to use a little more ingenuity to fit different ones.

having not done it i cant comment on the best fit.
i like the bumpers personally. they offer that bit more protection.

TBH though, having no bumpers is rubbish. I don't think it does do anything in particular for the looks…. And there is always the concern that someone, or you, will nudge the car (say, while parking) etc. And….its definitely something which counts as a modification to let the insurance company know. The only real advantage is a weight saving, and the bumpers don't weigh THAT much anyway!
