Removing glass

Can anyone offer any advice on removing the rear quater glass from my mk1.  Is there a special tool required?.  Also has anyone got any tip/advice on best way to remove the other glass?.  I think i`m just going to cut the windscreen seal to avoid breaking the glass, cheers.

use a sharp stanly knife to cut the seal and apply even presure all the way around the window, you pussh from the inside and get a mate to catch it from the out side, well thats what ive done in the past, although i did smash a rear winscreen trying to pry it out with a screwdriver!!! whoops!

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!! dont cut
all u need to do is from the corner inside, pull the rubber back as much as u can and apply pressure slowly to the glass from the edges and pushes it out, yeah and get a mate to catch it formthe otehr side!!!

or u culd just use ur feet if u brave but trust me just pushe it out evenly!

Yes, work from a corner on the inside pushing the rubber out over the lip as far as you can. Work your way across and it will just pop out (have a catcher ready!). If you have chrome trim taking this out first helps as it tensions the rubber.

I figured that i would be safer just buying a new seal rather than risking breaking the green tint glass.  How about the rear quater glass? Is there a particular way of doing it?  Cheers so far.

I used 3 screwdrivers to lever the rubber out.. worked a treat on all the windows (except front which I cut  :banghead: )

What you got to do to the inner wings? got any pics of what you need to do?

done the top edge and front on mine.. wasn't too difficult, take loads of measurements before cutting though to get the new metal in right
