PLEASE HELP, HEADER SEAL!!!

Hi, i have just recently bought a 1990 cab only to discover that i have the slightest leak on the passenger side of the roof. The leak appears to be coming from the header seal. Can anyone recommend somewhere i can purchase one? Or if someone would be kind enough to share a little advise on how to eliminate this problem that would be great!!!!

Thank's james

You can slightly adjust the fit of the roof where the grab handles fit into the slots on the top of the A pillar.   This may take up the slack and give you a tighter fit.  but only adjust in small amounts.

try GPC in luton for a new header seal.

Ignore the prices and availability on the site and give them a ring, the site is 2 years old and not updated

GPC are not doing the header seal at the moment as they are expensive ?136.00 + vat when I asked. That was about 2 weeks ago. Not suer if VW doing them still,  but they are the same price or more. Have you looked the foam bar seal inserts? these are a common problem for leaks, especially as the water drips from around the handle area.

VW had them when I was last there ?130.96 can't remember if that's with or without VAT, probably without.

if there is no sign of tearing on the header seal, I would clean and apply a couple of coats of a lubricant.

get a nice ot day so the rubber is warm and once clean spray with some silicone and then work some vaseline into the seal. Do that over say a couple of weeknds and see how it goes.

Another posability is water working its way in on the side. The first hood seal over the door must have a drop of sealent to stop water working its way in. Check the hood replacement guide.

All above excellent advice, make sure the first rubber seal above the windows is aligned correctly and meets the header seal properly too.
