Paint Code?

Hi All

Can anyone please assist in helping me?

I'm desperate need of the correct paint code for VW Mars Red for an 83 GTI/Driver, i've check the orginal manufactures sticker in the boot but it is in poor condition.

Matters are made worse with the V.A.G dealership not printing the code in the service schedule booklet!

My Y-Reg Mars Red says LA3A on the sticker. Be aware that the earlier Mars Red is a different shade.

You may be able to get your paint code from a VW dealership if you have the reg number / chassis number to hand.  I know a lot of manufacturers can do it, not 100% sure if VW can as I've never asked!

Vw should be able to give it you from the reg no ask in the bodyshop or service dept!!!

According to my dupont colour schemethe code should be either

LA3A this is from 1981 to 88   or

L31Bthis is from 1976 to 86

The information I have says that the colour code for an '83 Mars Red is A3A
