MOT Chassis Number Problem
Not sure if this correct section for this but here goes, the chassis number on my car is 17 digits i.e WVWZZZ17ZDW****** however the chassis number that comes up on the mot computer at garage is 10 digits i.e 17DW****** which is the same as v5. Basically as this doesnt match the car i cant get an mot. Has anyone else had this problem?

No experience of this but I know one of the Z's normally gets missed off, plus other letters when you see the number listed sometimes. Perhaps glitch in the new computerised MOT system? :dontknow:

Yeah Ive had this and I know someone else who has since the new electronic MOT's came in - nothing to worry about just typo's at DVLA - they send you a letter out to confirm some stuff directly off the car and then correct the V5 and send you another

Same here - I had a letter from the DVLA wanting me to confirm chassis numbers and colour etc for my motorbike.

Are you saying the MOT station refused to issue the MOT? I've just checked my MOT from November last year and it lists my chasis number minus the same seven digits, didn't notice till now and the garage said nothing :dontknow:
