mk1 doors question

Hi All
I know this sounds like a silly question
Is there any diffrence in the doors of an early golf(Small lightmodel)  and say an 82 ( long light model)  I want to know if they are interchangeable, :?  :?  hope Ive made sence ops:

Well the doors on all 3dr Golf Mk1 GTIs are the same the doorcards etc changed but the metal is the same. As is my knowledge

Dubboy should be able to confirm if you want to PM him, but the very early small light models were slightly different I believe. Different door locking mechs/mounts etc. I think the overall shape of the door would be the same though... :dontknow:

On really early ones the hinges are on the car, mine is 1980 and the hinges are on the door.

The doors from '76 and earlier models are not interchangeable with later models without modification. The locks, handles and hinges are all different.
