Mk 1 rear quarter fuel appeture..

Does anyone know if a 'weld in' part is available for the recess in the rear quarter as my GFs Mk1 has got the grot where the screws hold the filler neck to the body. We have thought of fitting a chrome surround but wish it to be an original ring as seen on some early Golfs.. Any ideas? Or should we just have the thing all welded using spare steel?

I'm sure this panel is available but can't suggest where to try sorry…

If not, why don't you look for a scrapper with a tidy fuel apperture and cut it out yourself? I did this with the lower, rear side window seam.

Surely its a fairly simple panel to make from sheet if you have a few dollies.

Thanks to you all, The ring is only bit marked with the rear 1/4 being perfect and the GF wants to minimise the need for repainting it.. but i guess it would be unavoidable.. :roll:
