Metal number plates
I want to get some new number plates. Preferably metal ones with raised letters.
My local carstuff shop said they are now illegal?
Peter.

Don't think so! I think that the only limitations are if for example you wanted the old metal plates that are silver letters on black background on a car that didn't have them originally - (I think from the K Reg in the 70's)

I know there are plans to bring in age related restrictions to all new number plates designs i.e only cars from the respective era will be eligiable for new retro-style plates, has this already happened?

Well, just checked out the above who have what I want.
She said it would be fine on a 1980 car.
But I think the law has changed recently.
