Looking for a Headlight

Hi, new member here.
I just bought a Mark 1 Clipper Cabrio, but I need an outer drivers side headlight. I'm a bit skint after buying the car, insuring, taxing etc. so I'm trying the local scrappies. Only problem, no Mark 1's. Does the mark 2 or polo or anything else fit. I'm trying to get it quick so as I can get out at the weekend, so I don't want to wait on one being sent.

Beetle headlamps are the same, Mk2 Golf are different. If it helps, I have a couple of spare headlamps, but they are in not so great condition so I'm a bit reluctant to sell. I could let you have one for, say, ?2 + postage given the poor (but working) condition.

Thanks for the offer paul, but like I said, I'm trying to get one ASAP. One of the local scrappies does have a lot of old cars (no mark 1 golfs though)so I'll try him for a beetle.

I've never seen a Beetle or a Mk1 Golf in a scrappy - but good luck!

You need a scrappy like my local…Piled three high over the back

Believe it or not, I've got a scrappy within walking distance of my house & it must be the biggest in Scotland. Thousands of cars over acres of ground. Only problem- very expensive. He's my last resort if I can't get one elsewhere

where are you in scotland

GSF are only cheap. think it cost me about ?15 for a new one

I'm in a wee place called Bonnybridge, near Falkirk. The scrappy is called Allparts phone no. 01324 819009
I called them, but I was only asking for a headlight & he said he had one so it's possible he may have a mark 1. I drive past quite a lot & he does have loads of cars. Apparently he's got a deal to lift any abandoned, untaxed, etc. cars so you might be lucky.

Re Allparts Scrappy,
I was up at there today (sat) & they have a mark 1 cabrolet. Not much left on it though (no headlight for me) said he had another mark 1 but I couldn'see it. They do have a beetle but headlight seems to bevel out the way, not flat like a mark 1. I got one off the shelf a another local scrappy but he doesn't know what it came off & I haven't tried to fit it yet, touch wood it fits, it looks the same.

Lucky you. I'm stuck with a scrappy with one mark 1 & hardly anything left on it, but I'm just new to the mark 1 golf & hopefully on my travels I'll find more.
