Inner sill repair
I'm repairing sections of the full length of the inner sill on both sides. My questions is this, i've cut out the rot and am left with two flanges because of an earlier repair where a step was made in the original metal. The original metal is good and so is the welded on section. What i am proposing is to fit the new section snug between the two flanges left (i've been able to separate them enough), clamp them together and weld both sides instead of making a step on the outer inner panel :? . This will efectively mean that three sheets are bonded (two old either side, and new panel inner). Will this be a stronger repair? It will not look as tidy from the inside of the car but i'm after strength not looks as it is being race prepped.
Any thoughts, cheers Justin
