Front panel

Looking for a new front panel, assume they come as one piece. What are GSF ones like quality wise - seem to be same price as Hadrian ones, or do GSF sell the Hadrian panel.

If you need a front panel try and locate a VW one as the fit is so much better.

Pattern panels seem to be a bit hit and miss on quality and fit.

Also I've never painted new panels only refinished existing ones. Do you remove the all the black primer that they come in or simply key it and prime/paint on top?

Does anyone know if the genuine front panel includes the slam panel? Presumably it not just the skin, but thr entire structual panel including the crossbeam which the engine mounting sits in?

Yep -it's the full panel with cross member, slam panel, centre and end supports

Cheers, I just ordered one from VW (reckoned they only had 4 left in stock) - ?117 inc VAT. The GPC is shown at ?75, but this doesn't include VAT or P&P.

Does anyone know what sort of primer genuine VW panels some finished in? Would I need to remove this or can I just key it and paint on top?

You should be ok just to key/scotch pad the black primer and paint on top, just make sure you remove any scratches/imperfections.

how much would it cost to have one of these welded on and painted out of curiosity??

will the wings need to e redone or will the welds be knowhere near tthem??

Not sure about costs but wings need to come off to fit the front panel as you need access to the inner wing at the top and where the crossmember is spot welded.

Remember to photograph and remount the VIN plate and barcode on the central slam panel support.
